Numerical simulation of primary atomization of a sheared liquid sheet. Part 2: Comparison with experimental results

Abstract

Numerical simulations of the primary atomisation of a sheared liquid sheet have been performed using the two-fluid model of SLOSH code described in [1] by the same authors. From a numerical point of view, several experimental configurations investigated in have been considered by varying the flow parameters. Direct comparisons between numerical and experimental results were made to assess the ability of the numerical model to reproduce the main physical mechanisms of the primary atomisation process as they were experimentally observed.
